Aspidasept^® is an antibacterial drug, which can suppress severe bacterial infections/inflammations. In particular, there is the hope that the death-rate of septic patients in critical care units can be decreased considerably.

A variant of Aspidasept^® is able to inhibit severe skin- and soft-tissue infections.

Additionally it was found that it acts against different infections caused by viruses (human immunodeficient virus HIV, flu viruses H3N2 und H1N1, hepatitis B, human papilloma virus, Herpes Simplex Virus I and II).   

Aspidasept is presently not an approved drug, since clinical phases have to be performed.
